SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER
To be successful, the incumbent must have 1) in-depth knowledge of network technologies, 2) exposure to best industry practices in managing large number of dedicated and shared network environments in high-availability datacenters, 3) knowledge and experience supporting, deploying and designing network solutions. While this position will be primarily focused on hands-on project work, flexibility to perform occasional work after hours, on-call duty, or serve as escalation point for Network Engineers is required.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and document solutions to improve performance, stability and availability of network infrastructure, including routing with ISPs, internal routing and switching, network applications like VPN, Local Load-Balancing, Global Load-Balancing etc.
- Proactively identify performance, stability, and capacity issues in current network environments and prepare project plans and proposals for upgrades, upgrades and improvements.
- Ensure that proposed designs meet corporate requirements and best industry practices.
- Take full ownership of implemented solutions by serving as a senior escalation resource for other Network Engineers.
- Assist in technical reviews of both existing and new customer environments, and propose solutions to better serve their requirements.
Required Skills:
- 5 years of progressive experience in the industry supporting network environments based on Cisco equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of infrastructure applications:
- BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- HSRP, VRRP
- STP, VLAN, PVLAN
- Firewall technologies
- Local Load-Balancing applications
- Global Load-Balancing applications
- HTTP, HTTPS
- VPN, IPSEC, SSL VPN
- Authentication, Authorization
- Network Management and Monitoring (Nagios, Netcool, MRTG, SNMP)
- DNS (BIND)
- Network virtualization technologies
- Out of band technologies
- Proven track record of designing, implementing and supporting network infrastructure and customer solutions based on Cisco equipment
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Linux experience desirable.
- Strong grasp of Network security: firewall, router, switch hardening, main types of attacks and responses to system compromises, proactive penetration testing.
- Strong communication and team-player skills.
- Multitasking – be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and provide ongoing support for designed/implemented solutions.
- Certifications in Networking/Security technologies, such as CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CISSP are an asset.
- Extensive experience deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
- Experience with VoIP implementations an asset
